Monona Park Photos

The following posts are photos I took on Nov. 10 and 11, 2007 of Monona city parks. I was initially looking at what type of landing material is in each park with a playground. Monona has 11 parks with playground equipment (counting Winnequah as 3 because it has 3 sites with playground equipment).

It should be noted that the photos tend to accentuate the negative and as such are not a fair representation of the overall Monona park system and are not intended to be. I wanted to document some existing conditions that need to be addressed.

I am posting the photos on this new blog because of the size of the photos and I did not want to clog up my other blog.

I noticed a couple other things worth mentioning. The wood chips get worn quickly and need to be renewed frequently. Sand also needs to be refreshed each year. There are no recycling bins in any park.

Three have rubber mulch:
1. Maywood Park rubber
2. Three Meadows Park Rubber
3. Fireman's Park Rubber and sand under swings

Four parks have sand:
4. Oneida Park Sand and swings with no material Work planned for 2008
5. Schluter Beach Sand
6. Arrowhead Park Sand – thin and lacks coverage; monkey bars with no material
7. Winnequah Park – Blue Park Sand & Swings with no material

Four parks have wood chips:
8. MY Dream Park wood chips – thin
9. Frost Woods Park wood chips (2007)
10. Bridge Road Park wood chips - Rubber scheduled for 2008
11. Ahuska Park wood chips

What is the goal of the web site Doug? I appreciate the effort and am certainly in favor of bringing these items to peoples attention.

Are you looking for suggestions or support from Monona residents?
